As a Documentation Specialist, you are responsible for creating, writing, updating, and delivering various types of user documentation, including how-to guides, references, manuals, cheat sheets, instructions, and e-learning. Utilizing your understanding of the product, as well as engaging the assistance of product Subject Matter Experts (SME), you will ensure documentation quality and accuracy. You will adhere to design specification and styles utilized within HSS.
You must be able to effectively communicate with all areas of the company, including internal stakeholders. You will work with Product Delivery Teams, Product Owners, and internal stakeholders on software product documentation needs, prioritization, and deliverable dates. The ability to successfully manage documentation efforts and deliverable dates is required, including recognizing and communicating when there is a resource conflict and/or risk to commitments.
Depending on the product and that product's development method, the Documentation Specialist may work with Agile SCRUM Development Teams, where understanding Agile SCRUM development methods is required.
Creates, maintains, and delivers various types of user documentation, including how-to guides, references, manuals, cheat sheets, and instructions.
Creates, maintains, and delivers various e-learning as appropriate to product and requests.
Work with Product Delivery Team, Product Owners, and stakeholders on documentation requests and prioritization.
Utilizes writing skills to ensure documentation quality, grammar, spelling, and layout.
Works directly with SMEs to ensure documentation accuracy.
Maintains the internal Document Control Library with the most recent versions of all technical and training documents.
Assists to determine and maintain the HSS Style Guide and ensures that all documents created adhere to set standards and templates.
Independent and creative thinker with a good sense of design and style.
Self-directed and self-motivated, requiring little direction from superiors once job tasks have been determined on projects.
Adheres to all set deadlines.
A Bachelor's degree in English, Writing, or equivalent preferred.

years of related experience in technical writing desired.
5
years of K-12 food service industry experience desired.
Exceptional people, communication, and collaboration skills to support working in a complex, multi-faceted business.
Ability to manage a heavy workload in a demanding environment.
A comprehensive knowledge of technology and its application in the K-12 market.
Excelling written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
The individual also must possess the following general qualities:
Language Ability
Ability to create, read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math Ability
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Should have good problem-solving techniques and the ability to troubleshoot technical problems.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of spreadsheet software, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet software.
